Quince - Cydonia oblonga

A deciduous small tree which grows from 2 up to 7 meters in height. Its foliage is hairy and elliptical. Large pinkish white flowers appear in spring after leafing out. The quince fruit is 8-12 centimeters large, round, lumpy and irregular covered with a layer of fine hairs. Ripens in october or november before frosts. Inedible when raw, it needs to be cooked in order to enjoy its aromatic taste.
