Deciduous tree which can grow 10 meters in height. Crown is rounded and wide spreading, casting a heavy shade. Foliage is heart-shaped, large and dark green. Fruit is edible and can be white, pink, purple or black, ripens in late spring or early summer. Fruitless cultivars exist also a very decorative weeping mulberry - M. alba “Pendula” with long, hanging branches.
