A perennial plant, in Central America it grows up to 5 m. In Europe, it is cultivated in pots and reaches a height of 30-60 cm. Blooms from late fall to spring. The poinsettia flower is small, inconspicuous, yellow in color. It is surrounded by large bracts (transformed leaves) of intense colors (red, pink, orange, light yellow, white), and there are also varieties with colorful bracts. The leaf is large, dark green, with pronounced veins. It is grown in flowerpots and is an irreplaceable decoration during the Christmas holidays.
